Michael Stofan/The Telegraph Waldo Rasmussen celebrated his 105th birthday Saturday. Rasmussen, who retired as manager of Hayward Memorial Park in 1969, was born in 1903 in Portland, Ore. and has lived long enough to see World War I and II, though he never served in the armed forces. He has a daughter Niels, and a son Eugene who passed away about four years ago. He has four grandchildren and one great grandchild. When asked about the secret to his longevity, he said, ?Eat to live, don?t live to eat.? Rasmussen has subscribed to health journals since 1936 and has helped relatives and friends to live longer through healthier eating. Rasmussen said that ?this has not been the most pleasant life, but it has been an interesting one.?
