Penny Gaumond and Kim Rooney of Roseville dressed appropriately for the 5K mud run. Racers start the 5K race for the Merrell Down & Dirty Mud Run at Folsom Lake. Nikki Bertucci, of Auburn, congratulates Erik Flodin, also of Auburn, after his successful completion of the Merrell Down & Dirty Mud Run. Alysia Kool of Roseville finishes the 5K Merrell Down & Dirty Mud Run after successfully navigating several obstacles including (of course) the mud pit. Billie Moorman, Kathryn Wallace, and Jenn Nola, all of Folsom, get their post-race photos taken to post on Merrell's Facebook page. Sal Segura, a volunteer with the National Teen Leadership Program, accepts used shoes donated to be recycled and put to good use in the name of charity. Nicole Wible of Sacramento donates her shoes after the race for a few good causes, including the National Teen Leadership Program and Autism Cares. Sherry Burch gets some help washing mud out of her hair from husband Adam Burch post-race. Lance Corporal Peter Todd, USMC, reminds racers to stay on their bellies (not their knees!) through the final race obstacle- the mud pit.
