The Auburn Masons of Eureka Lodge No. 16 held a very successful Public Schools Night event at their June Stated Meeting. With many people in attendance, the Lodge awarded high school scholarship recipients and middle school projects with $7000!
The theme of the program was “Making Dreams a Reality” and was launched by a special speech from Worshipful Master Bob Murphy’s wife, Cindy Murphy, Past Grand Officer IORG. It was her 1978 State Project Speech on Masonic Scholarships. She inspired those in attendance that the Masonic mission is “Making Dreams a Reality” for our youth.
Those in attendance were honored to have EV Cain’s School Principal Randy Ittner along with teacher Kelly Bennett receive Eureka Lodge’s $1000 contribution towards their Life Lab Science Project. Principal Ittner explained the Life Lab plans and was most appreciative of the donation to help launch the program. Following was Michael Juba, teacher at Charles Mack Elementary School explaining results on the Mason’s $1000 donation for students to experience Sly Park Camp this year. His presentation was very informative and moving because our donation allowed students to experience the beauties of nature, many for the first time in their lives.
The evening concluded with the lodge awarding $5000 scholarships to three graduating high school students, who were required to submit an essay on community service and academic accomplishments. The three recipients along with their families were presented the following scholarships: Ala Navratil from Camptonville Academy and Brandon Riggert from Foresthill High School received $1000, while Patrick Keenan of Colfax High School was awarded the $3000 Ralph Hoeper Memorial Engineering Scholarship. Patrick plans on attending Cal Berkeley, majoring in engineering science.
This event definitely showcased Eureka Lodge’s involvement in our community via the future leaders of our society. The education they have received in our public schools today has prepared them well for their future, and the Auburn Masons of Eureka Lodge No. 16 wanted to enhance their capabilities of “Making Dreams a Reality”!

It is very rewarding to see the Freemason's of Auburn receive some recognition for the good things they do. I see members of their organization in every walks of life and to see the Auburn Journal print and article that exhibits their generosity is refreshing to say the least.
Keep up the good work and to the Mason's, I will see you at the Walk for Life.
