Oak Ridge continues to dominate the competition. The Trojans have a 22-4 record entering this week and are one of the top teams in the Sacramento area. Last week they easily disposed of Christian Brothers and El Dorado in three games. In the win Thursday over the Falcons, Oak Ridge won 25-4, 25-10 and 25-15. El Dorado went down in defeat two days earlier, 25-14, 25-13, 25-20. “What I liked best is that we’re not playing down to other teams’ level,” Oak Ridge coach Tom Van Der Wende said. “We’re keeping our play at a high level and working hard.” Several players got into the act against El Dorado, as Jack Hoisington and Jonathan Tuttle led the way with five kills, while Storm Van Soldt and Sean Bassemier both had four kills. Bassemier also had six serving aces, while Van Soldt led the way with a pair of blocks. In the back row, Nate Lambert, Bassemier, Chris Gomm and Hoisington led the way with digs and passes. Tuttle made 10 kills in the win over Christian Brothers, while Hoisington had eight. Connor Blakeman had four aces, while Bassemier, Hoisington, Connor Dunham and Mike Whitcomb each had two. The Trojans had four matches remaining at the start of the week, as they played Vista del Lago Tuesday and travel to El Camino on Thursday. The team ends the regular season at home against Ponderosa and Rio Americano next week before the playoffs begin May 13. “I’d like for us to strengthen our block before the playoffs,” Van Der Wende said. “I feel we’ve done all we can with the offense and feel pretty confident with that.”
