Shannon Trumbull and the Oak Ridge girls’ 4x800-meter relay teams turned in the top performances at the Stanford Invitational held Friday and Saturday. Trumbull had the two highest finishes of any Oak Ridge athlete or relay team, as she took fourth in the 400-meter hurdles in 1 minute, 6.53 seconds, and placed sixth in the 100 hurdles in 15.48. Meanwhile, the girls’ 4x800-meter relay team of Maxine Goyette, Ellie Velez, Mikayla Mefford and Holli Arrieta placed seventh in 9:47.71. Also for the girls, Jessica Emde finished tied for 11th in the high jump at 4 feet, 11 inches. Goyette and Velez also earned 14th-place finishes, Goyette in the mile (5:23.96) and Velez in the 3,000 meters (10:39.94). Arrieta took 26th in the mile in 5:23.96, while Lexi Davenport earned a 31st-place finish in the 100 meters in 13:04. The 4x100-meter relay team of Michaela Kelsey, Davenport, Jasmine Pears and Trumbull ran 29th in the prelims in 51.50. The distance medley team of Sean McHone, Jacob Sipes, Evan Baxter and Jake Zeltner had the top finish for the boys, taking 11th in 10:56. Two other relay teams also competed, as the 4x400-meter team of Shay Mueller, Sean Yves Diei, Zach Youngberg and Sipes ran 19th in 3:31.31, while the 4x800-meter team of Baxter, Zach Thornton, Zeltner and McHone ran 22nd in 8:32.26. Mueller took 12th in the long jump at 19-6, while Youngberg had a busy day in the hurdles, placing 15th in his prelim race in the 110 hurdles (15.65) and 20th in the 400 hurdles in 59.54. McHone also ran the mile and finished in 4:27.98, good for 23rd place, while Dusty Armstrong took 31st in the 3,000 meters in 9:22.72. Oak Ridge will compete at the Thunder Invitational on Saturday at Rocklin High. The meet starts at 9 a.m. and features 40 teams.
