Eight Oak Ridge High track and field relay teams placed first at the Clarke Massey Relays held at Cordova High on Saturday. Oak Ridge earned six varsity gold medals, including a sweep of the distance medley relay. The varsity boys’ team of Benji Xie, Shlomo Khamishon, Jeroen Keukenkamp and Amjed Aboukhadijeh posted a winning time of 10 minutes, 51.53 seconds, while the varsity girls ran a 12:49.98. Samantha Ralstin, Holli Arrieta, Abby Walker and Hayley Scott competed on that team. The same four girls also placed first in the 4x400-meter relay, finishing in 4:06.42, while the same four boys won the 4x800-meter relay in 8:24.93. The varsity girls’ sprint medley relay of Jessica Menser, Shannon Trumball, Timery Mueller and Cami Crawford also won with a time of 1:58.33, while Sarah Vaughn and Jessica Emde won the high jump with a combined height of 9 feet, 10 inches. At the freshman-sophomore level, Dusty Armstrong, Zach Thornton, Evan Baxter and Parker Prestegard combined to win the 4x800-meter relay in 9:03.03, while Armstrong, Baxter and Prestegard teamed with Zach Youngberg to win the distance medley relay in 11:44.33. “We turned in many great performances,” Oak Ridge coach Rob Fairley said. “The rainy conditions for most of the meet didn’t seem to faze us.” The varsity girls and junior varsity boys' won their divisions, while the varsity boys' took second to Galt. Up next for the Trojans is the Sacramento High School Classic on Saturday.
