Oak Ridge High’s baseball team had too much firepower for Sheldon Wednesday, winning 12-5 to improve to 5-3 in the Delta River League and 11-8 overall.
The Trojans pounded Sheldon pitching for 12 hits, including three from Logan Marston and two each from Ross Dwelley and Mickey Meinhofer.
Pitcher Tommy Hummer had one bad inning, allowing five runs in the fifth, but with his team leading 12-0, the inning could be afforded.
Oak Ridge scored three runs in the first inning, two on a double by Marston, followed by another RBI double by Ryan Sullivan.
In the third inning, Tanner Ales tripled in Meinhofer to make it 4-0. Dwelley’s base hit scored Ales and Logan Denholm later singled in Dwelley.
The Trojans scored six runs in the fourth. John Rico had a two-run single, while Meinhofer, Dwelley and Marston had RBI hits.
