Going for the season sweep, the Oak Ridge varsity baseball team found it tough beating Union Mine for the third straight time. A four-run fourth inning by the Diamondbacks gave them a commanding 5-1 lead; as they held on to defeat the Trojans 5-3. While Oak Ridge won the season series by winning two of the three games, the loss dropped Oak Ridge to 6-4 in the Sierra Valley Conference and 11-7 overall. The game was tied at one through three innings, before the Diamondbacks had three hits to go along with an Oak Ridge error in the fourth, which led to four runs. Oak Ridge managed single runs in the bottom of the fourth and fifth, but could never get much going, as it only had four hits in the game. Jeff McKenzie had two of those hits and knocked in two runs, while John Gallagher doubled. The Trojans play host to Ponderosa today at 4:15 p.m.
