Trojan tennis team wins two more league matches

Oak Ridge picked up right where they left off at spring break, winning both of their matches this week. On Monday the Trojans defeated Ponderosa 6-3 and followed it up with an 8-1 win Wednesday against Union Mine. Against the Bruins, Tanner Schmutte kicked the match off with a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles. Jimmy Giovannini (6-0, 6-1), Alex Charn (6-2, 6-2) and Nic Atkinson (6-1, 6-3) also won singles matches at No. 4, 5 and 6, respectively. Oak Ridge also won doubles matches at No. 1 and No. 2. Jake Hasse and Jonathan Kim earned a 6-4, 6-0 win, while Joe Carson and Tom Barton won 2-6, 6-1, 6-1. The Trojans had no trouble against Union Mine, as they won all but the No. 3 doubles match. Schmutte (6-2, 6-2), Austin Hall (6-3, 6-0), Andrew Hall (6-0, 6-2), Giovannini (6-0, 6-0), Charn (6-4, 6-1) and Atkinson (6-2, 6-3) all picked up wins in singles play. Hasse and Kim earned a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles, while Barton and Kevin Ross won 2-6, 6-4, 6-0 at No. 2. Oak Ridge’s next matches are against Liberty Ranch and Christian Brothers on Monday and Wednesday, respectively.
