Despite a disappointing 3-1 loss to Vista del Lago, Oak Ridge High’s varsity girls’ soccer team is doing just fine. The Trojans began the week with a 5-1 record in the Sierra Valley Conference and are 7-3-2 overall. Last week the Trojans defeated Ponderosa 2-0 and then disposed of Union Mine 4-0. “The loss to Vista is just one game and we’ve moved on,” Oak Ridge coach Henry Reis said. “Obviously we wanted to come back and we’re a team that works on the things that didn’t work for us and adjust the practice the next day. Then we go out and execute again and see if it works or not. I think right now our team is doing well.” Geneve Dromensk scored twice, once in each half, to lead the team to the 2-0 win over Ponderosa. Two days later Oak Ridge defeated Union Mine 4-0 behind two goals apiece from Rachel Mercik and Mandi McBroom. Oak Ridge’s next game is today at Christian Brothers. It marks the first game of the second half of league play. Oak Ridge defeated the Falcons 1-0 on March 15.
