Two league wins improved Oak Ridge High’s varsity boys’ lacrosse team’s record to 2-2 in league play and 4-3 overall. The Trojans crushed St. Mary’s on April 6, winning 18-2. Josh Wellman and Alex Sacco each scored four goals in the win. Cayd Rich added three and Tyler Leone scored twice, while Case Donahue, Austin Emmett, Daniel Portela, Ethan Ackerman and Austin Dean found the back of the net once. On Friday Oak Ridge jumped out to a 5-0 halftime lead over Bella Vista and hung on for a 6-3 victory. Wellman and Sacco again led the way with two goals apiece, while Colton Giorgi and Ackerman each scored once. Taylor McKay made seven saves in goal. “It was a good week with two league wins in spite of all the injuries,” Oak Ridge coach Brad Speno said. “Injuries hurt us, but the defense continues to play tough, led by Taylor McKay in goal.” Oak Ridge’s next game is at Foothill on Friday. Game time is 6 p.m.
