Healthy for the first time all season, Oak Ridge High’s varsity boys’ lacrosse team defeated Granite Bay on Tuesday, 7-5. The win improved Oak Ridge’s record to 6-5 on the year and avenged an earlier 11-5 loss to the Grizzlies. Cayd Rich led the way for the Trojans with three goals, all of which were big. The first in the third period tied the game at three and his second goal put Oak Ridge in front for good, 5-4. His final goal secured the two-goal win. Case Donahue scored Oak Ridge’s first two goals of the night to erase a 2-0 deficit. Tyler Leone also scored a goal in the third period, which briefly gave the Trojans a 4-3 lead. Patrick Kunkel’s goal in the fourth, which put the Trojans up 6-4, turned out to be the game-winning goal. Josh Wellman, Austin Dean and John McGonigle added assists, while Taylor McKay was strong in goal, as the Trojans picked up a big win on the road. On Friday the team plays host to St. Mary’s at 5:30 p.m.
