Taste wine, for free, at El Dorado Hills Town Center
By: Penne Usher, Telegraph Correspondent
What’s better than wine at Town Center? Free wine at Town Center. Thursday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. the Welcome Center will host a toast to Syrah Day wine tasting that is completely free to the public. Several El Dorado County wineries will be pouring their Syrahs for the event. Syrah is one of the most commonly recognizable Rhône varietals and is grown in just about every wine region throughout the world. You can find a bottle of Syrah from France, Australia, Spain, Washington State, California, Oregon, Arizona and beyond at your local wine shop or grocer. Area wineries including David Girard, Lava Cap, Grace Patriot, Boeger and Shadow Ranch Vineyard will be represented. Crystal Basin Cellars, Sierra Vista Vineyard and Mount Aukum winery will also be pouring their Syrahs. Bea Grace, co-owner of Grace Patriot winery in Camino, said they plan on pouring a couple different vintages of their Syrah. “Our Syrah has been a top seller for a few years,” said Grace, who runs the winery with her husband Steve. Winemaker Tyler Grace, 39, was born to make wine. He’s the son of Steve and Bea and said his wine is full bodied. “Our Syrah has some really nice fruit to it, it’s very bright with berry flavors,” Tyler Grace said. “It seems to have a better fruit-forward character to other foothill Syrahs.” The event is not only about wine. “This is a great networking opportunity with local business,” said Linda Ellen Anderson, chairman of the El Dorado Hills Chamber of Commerce. “You can learn from others about the community and the business culture.” The event is free and is open to the public from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The Welcome Center is located at 2085 Vine Street near the Regal Theater.
