Celebrating the New Year in El Dorado Hills got a little wet thanks to the Polar Plunge “Freez’n for a reason” food drive on Jan. 1 at the Community Services District pool. Swimming outside in January in El Dorado Hills is a rarity but New Year’s Day had highs in the 50s and several dozen young people took advantage of the event and enjoyed an afternoon of swimming and splashing. According to Teri Gotro, recreation supervisor at CSD, the pool was opened for the first-time event and offered free swims to anyone who brought a canned food donation. All canned food items were donated to Hands4Hope, a local charity run by youth in El Dorado Hills.
