The Sutter Creek Mardi Gras Party and Cajun Cook Off will take place from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m., on Saturday, Feb. 9, at the Sutter Creek Auditorium, 18 Main St., Sutter Creek.
Guests are encouraged to come in costume for the event.
Tickets are $20 with proceeds going to the Historic Sutter Creek Grammar School Restoration Fund.
The 21-and-older event includes a sampling of Cajun recipes, dancing to live music, poker and blackjack, Luna Bella Fortuna the Fortune Teller, a saloon and the infamous Jail House, where the sheriff will roam the room and you can have anyone arrested for $2. The person must pay $1 to get out of jail, or they will be released after 10 minutes.
Your ticket also includes the Cajun Cook-Off tasting where restaurants and residents battle it out with their own Cajun concoction.
Guests can visit each booth, try their Cajun recipe and then cast a vote for their favorite. The team with the most votes wins $100 and a trophy. There will also be prizes for “Cajun Team Best Booth” and “Cajun Team Best Costume.”
