Jacob Sipes and Briana Dulgar led the way for Oak Ridge High’s track and field team at the Woody Wilson Invitational held Friday and Saturday at UC Davis.
Sipes placed second in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 39.75, and finished seventh in the 400 meters in 50.63. Sipes also ran on two relay teams: the 4x100 team (Dominick Worsham, Zach Youngberg, Bryce Williams and Sipes) placed fifth in 43.47, while the 4x400-meter team of Worsham, Jean-Yves Diei, Nick Menendez and Sipes finished 10th in 3:29.12.
Dulgar posted three personal-best times, including a ninth-place finish in the 1,600 meters in 5:24.99. Dulgar also ran a 2:28 split in the 800 meters in the distance medley relay and ran a 1:04 split in the 4x400-meter relay. The relay team, consisting of Dulgar, Lexi Davenport, Sabrina Andrus and Kristina O’Donnell, placed third in 4:07.76.
Youngberg placed second in the 110 hurdles in 15.32, while Will Vaughn finished fourth in the high jump at 6-0. The varsity boys distance medley relay team of Marcos Conde, Bret McNamee, Zach Thornton and Evan Baxter also finished fourth in 10:57.54.
Rachel Peterson earned a pair of seventh-place finishes in the 1,600-meter run (5:18.55) and the 3,200-meter run (11:19.02).
Three Oak Ridge athletes placed tenth in their events: Ashley Dean in the pole vault (9-2 ¼), Ellie Velez (3,200, 11:30.03) and Justin Priest (high jump, 5-10).
Jaimi Gotro also ran a personal-best in the 110 high hurdles with a time of 16.59 and a seasonal-best in the 300 hurdles, 49.39.
