Sierra Valley Storm optimistic for strong season
By: Staff Report
In March the Sierra Valley Storm PONY baseball program kicks off its fourth year with extremely high expectations. Now with seven teams ages 8U-14U, the Storm program has grown steadily into one of the most competitive PONY baseball programs in California. In the past three years the program has won four section and two region all-star titles, coming up just short of the World Series two years in a row. Expectations are at an all-time high for the 12U Storm team as they prepare for another deep all-star run with its eye on the Bronco-12 World Series in Monterey. “We’ve added some key pieces to the puzzle this year and as a result feel we have the pitching depth and the right mix of players to make a real run at it,” said manager Ryan Rodriguez. “We expect all our teams this year to compete at the section and regional level.” The program’s quick rise to the top has been a result of a strong and stable coaching staff combined with players who have a unique drive to learn the game and compete at the highest levels. Starting March you can find any one of the Storm teams hosting weekend doubleheaders either at Promontory Park or at Bass Lake against some of the top teams in Northern California.
