Sara Haley and Gabrielle Rossbach led the way for the Oak Ridge Trojans at the Sac-Joaquin Section Swimming Section Championships held Saturday at Tokay High School in Lodi. Haley had a pair of top-three finishes, capping off an outstanding career at Oak Ridge. Haley placed second in the 100 butterfly with a personal-best time of 54.95 seconds, just seven-tenths of a second behind winner Katie Herrington, a junior from Tokay High. “Sara had personal-best times in everything she swam so we were pleased,” Oak Ridge coach Patrick Foster said. “We were really hoping she could win the 100 butterfly, but we knew it would be tough. The races that Sara was in were some of the best of the day, and there was just a lot of fast talent out there.” Haley also placed third in the 200 freestyle in 1:51.16. In both events, Haley has posted All-American times. She also led off the 400 freestyle relay, which placed seventh in 3:43.38. Haley’s opening split of 52.09 was fast enough for All-American consideration. Haley swam the 400 relay with Rossbach, Katherine Tehaney and Aimee Dewante. Rossbach placed sixth in the 500 freestyle in 5:03.16 and also finished eighth in the 200 freestyle in 1:57.52. Dewante finished 11th in the 200 individual medley in 2:12.91 and placed 16th in the 100 breast stroke in 1:11.70. Oak Ridge had two other relay teams place, as the 200 medley relay team finished 10th in 1:56.35 and the 200 freestyle team placed 14th in 1:46.39. Andrew Janicki and Ryan Haynes were the only varsity boys to place, as Janicki finished 12th in the 50 free in 21.99, while Haynes placed 16th in the 100 backstroke in 1:01.27. The boys had three relay teams place in the consolation finals. The 200 free team placed ninth in 1:29.72, the 400 free quartet placed 10th in 3:19.94, while the 200 medley team placed 17th in 1:47.22.
