All American Speedway management listened to residents near the Placer County Fairgrounds and moved up its weekly racing schedule by one hour.

A month into the season, track officials have listened to drivers and fans and Saturday will return to the original schedule with practice at 2:30 p.m., grandstands open at 4 and racing at 6:15.

Speedway host Ken Brooks said the schedule was moved up at the start of the season in an effort to conclude programs earlier and cut noise, but drivers, some of whom work Saturdays, complained of having less time to prepare their race cars and get them to the track.

“Some of the guys … had an hour less to get the cars ready, on trailers and out to us,” Brooks said.

Fans were so accustomed to a 6 p.m. green flag that by the time some arrived at the track, main events were starting.

“From the grandstand side, fans were … paying $13, getting two hours of racing and having to go home,” Brooks said.

On top of that, the first three programs this season ended at 8:30 twice and 8:50 last weekend. That allowed fans to visit the pit area afterward to view the cars and visit with the drivers.

“They loved that,” Brooks said.

The second Enduro 200 of the season tops Saturday night’s program, and with the Street Stock and Bomber classes added for a NASCAR Whelen All-American Series rain makeup, Brooks anticipates a final checkered flag closer to 10 p.m.
