Reader input: Folsom Jazz Festival raises $5k, not $500k

-A +A

I appreciate the coverage the Telegraph provides for Folsom High School Music Booster events. It helps us maintain music at Folsom High School, which is a very strong program and draws students to our school and families to our community.

The article in January’s Folsom Lake Entertainer regarding our upcoming Folsom Jazz Festival, however, contains one error. Curtis Gaesser, Music Director at Folsom High School, stated last year’s jazz festival raised $5,000, not $500,000 as written. As a non-profit organization, we wish the article was correct but unfortunately that is not the case. The profits from our events support all of our music groups.

I hope that many community members choose to attend the Jazz Festival. Not only will they be supporting excellence in music education here in Folsom but they will be in awe of the musical ability of high school students from California and Nevada. The Folsom HS Music Boosters can be reached at FolsomMusic.org.
