Prospector girls’ U-10 soccer team, Sparks, placed third at ARYSL’s Goal Rush Tournament at Cherry Island. This is the second consecutive tournament the girls have received bronze while conceding only one goal. The Sparks team was formed last year and the girls play with enthusiasm, energy, and tenacity. Working diligently with their coaches and trainers, they continue to improve with every game and tournament. Game 1 was off to a good start with the Sparks winning 1-0 against the SSA Kool Kicks. Later that afternoon, they continued with a 5-0 win against Roseville Athletica. Sunday morning, the Sparks met their toughest competition, the Clovis Crossfire. The girls took shot after shot on goal, but luck was not on their side thus giving up their only goal of this tournament for a 1-0 loss. They enthusiastically advanced to the semi-finals bracket. Taking the rain in stride, they seized every scoring opportunity to win 5-0 against Loomis Lightning and capturing their third-place finish.
