After a three-way tie in bracket play where each team won one game by a score of 2-1, all three teams participated in a three-team 10-player “Kicks from the Mark” shootout Wednesday night. The Prospector under-9 girls’ Flames won the shootout by scoring six goals, while the other two teams scored three goals.  The Flames’ goalie, Tanya, was credited with stopping five shots on goal.

After the shootout, the Prospector Flames played FC Elk Grove Explosion in the championship game. The Flames won the District 6 Commissioner’s Cup in the last two minutes with a cross from Zoe to Haylee, who placed the winning shot in the corner of the net for a score of 1-0.

The girls bring the first Commissioner’s U9 Girls Gold Cup to El Dorado County. Coached by Todd Thalhamer and Michelle Chappell, the girls finished the season with a 24-7-6 record.
