'Old Time Radio' show hits stage at Chautauqua Playhouse in Carmichael
Folsom Lake Entertainer
Chautauqua Playhouse, in association with Bob and Ro Productions, is bringing “Old Time Radio” to the Playhouse, located at 5325 Engle Road, in the La Sierra Community Center, Carmichael. Each performance date presents a different show. The performances are scheduled for two Saturday matinees: 2 p.m. Sept. 8 and Sept. 15. Local actors dress in period costumes to recreate the great radio shows of yesteryear, according to organizers. The theater audience becomes the “studio audience” as the actors bring back memories to some and introduce a new genre to others. There is also a musical interlude with the "velvety voice" of Mike Branson, according to organizers. The Sept. 8 performance will bring episodes of “Our Miss Brooks,” “Richard Diamond, Private Eye” and “The Bickersons." The Sept. 15 performance includes “Gunsmoke,” “The Bickersons” and “Fibber McGee and Molly." Ticket price is $10 for general admission. Tickets are available online at cplayhouse.org/tickets, or by calling the Chautauqua Box Office at (916)489-7529, during regular business hours (noon to 5 p.m. on Wednesday and Friday).
