Oak Ridge Jr. Trojans Peewees 14, Natomas 12 The Oak Ridge Jr. Trojan Peewees outlasted the Natomas Jr. Nighthawks 14-12 in a slugfest on Saturday at Oak Ridge High School. The first-place Trojans (6-0) once again relied on a solid defensive effort to lead the way to victory, holding the gritty Nighthawks to negative offensive yardage, with the exception of two long Natomas runs for touchdowns. Tanner Beasy scored the game’s first touchdown with a 31-yard scamper on a reverse around right end in the first quarter. Beasy added the two-point after kick to stake the Trojans to an early 8-0 lead. After several trades of possession, Natomas (3-3) scored on a 67-yard run around left end. The point after kick failed, and the Trojans clung to an 8-6 lead at halftime. Julian Dardano scored on a two-yard plunge off right tackle to increase the Trojan lean to lead to 14-6 early in the third quarter. Natomas scored again on a 46-yard run around left end midway through the fourth quarter, cutting the Trojan lead to 14-12 with less than four minutes left in the game. After the Trojans’ final offensive drive stalled, Noah Jenkins sealed the Trojan victory with an interception on the Nighthawks desperate last-ditch drive. EJ Delwiche paced the offense, completing 8-of-8 passes for 81 yards. Tyler Jeppesen caught two passes for 39 yards, and Cole Ramsey added two key catches for 25 yards. Dardano rushed for 74 yards on 17 carries. The Oak Ridge defense was led by Jenkins, Jack Topping and Jackson Redhair. Shane Semeit, Jack Slaughter, Matt Hauser, Evan Miranda, Nicholas Norton and Nate Kettering added key stops in support throughout the day.
