Oak Ridge track teams earn top-eight finishes at invitational

Oak Ridge High’s varsity track and field teams posted top-eight finishes at Saturday’s King/Gilbert Invitational at Granite Bay High.

Zach Youngberg picked up Oak Ridge’s lone first-place finish, as he won the 110 high hurdles in 15.56 seconds. The varsity boys’ team had two third-place finishes; Nick Emanuel in the 110 high hurdles (16.61) and Jacob Sipes in the 200-meter dash (23.01).

Jake Zeltner took fourth in the 800 meters in 2:03.75, while the 4x100-meter relay team of Dominick Worsham, Nick Menendez, Bryce Williams and Sipes also placed fourth in 44.85.

The boys’ 4x400-meter relay team of Jean-Yves Diei, Matt Monet, Menedez and Sipes took fifth in 3:32.93, while Sipes also placed sixth in the 100 meters in 11.41.

The varsity girls had two individual third-place finishers and also had two relay teams take third. Ellie Velez ran the 3,200 in 11:38.06, while Kristina O’Donnell high jumped 4’10”. The 4x100 relay team of Jessica Bolton, Lexi Davenport, O’Donnell and Jasmine Pears posted a time of 52.03, while the 4x400 team of Davenport, O’Donnell, Briana Dulgar and Sabrina Andrus ran a 4:17.56.

Dulgar also took fourth in the 800 meters (2:31.79), while Velez placed fifth in the 1,600 (5:22.27). Ashley Dean earned a sixth-place finish in the pole vault (8’6”) while Davenport also placed sixth in the 100 meters in 13.39.

Top-six finishers at the freshman-sophomore level included Jordan Hordesky (second, 3,200, 10:15.23), Josh Gladwell (second, 800, 2:09.68), Brandon Jetter (third, 110 hurdles, 17:15), Griffin Prather (fourth, 300 hurdles, 43.66), Bret McNamee (fifth, 400, 56.48), Arial Hendrickson (fifth, 3,200, 13:00.97) and Tanner Emanuel (sixth, 200 , 24.78).
