With three final Delta River League matches last week, the Oak Ridge Trojans’ tennis team is ready for the postseason. The league singles and doubles were played Monday and Tuesday, respectively, and the Trojans open the section playoffs on Nov. 1. Oak Ridge finished the regular season with two wins and an upset loss last week. The Trojans opened the week with an 8-1 win over Ponderosa on Oct. 17 when all five seniors had a spot in the lineup. Co-captains Julia Dunnigan and Julia Lund played No. 1 and 2 singles, respectively, and came away with wins, Dunnigan winning 6-2, 6-3 and Lund winning 6-0, 6-0. Emily Beasy and Megan Eaves were victorious at No. 3 doubles, 6-1, 6-2, while senior Tia Nguyen teamed with sophomore Haesoo Kim to win at No. 1 doubles, 7-6, 6-3. Other Oak Ridge winners in singles play including Alexa Hill (6-3, 6-3), Gabby Zeagler (6-0, 6-1), Miranda Miller (6-1, 6-0) and Meghan Schoener (6-1, 6-4). “Senior day is a chance for the team to recognize the career achievements of our seniors and thank them for their efforts to make the Lady Trojans the best they can be,” Oak Ridge coach Ralph Clark said. The following day the Lady Trojans lost to Folsom, 5-4, despite wins from Lauren Roppolo (7-5, 6-4) and Teja Chalamcherla (6-1, 6-1) in singles and Nyugen and Zeagler (6-3, 6-3) and Miller and Kim (7-5, 7-5) in doubles. The team wrapped up the season on Oct. 19 with a 6-3 win over Pleasant Grove. Tori Trylovich picked up a 7-5, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles, followed with singles wins by Rachel Librach (7-5, 6-2), Roppolo (6-4, 6-0) and Hannah Crookham (6-3, 5-1, retired). Chalamcherla and Miller won 6-1, 6-2 in doubles, as did Hill and Zeagler (6-3, 6-0).
