Having lost two of their first three Delta River League matches, Oak Ridge High’s tennis team has rebounded and won three straight matches. Oak Ridge opened this week with an 8-1 win over Sheldon on Monday and followed with a 7-2 win over Ponderosa on Wednesday. On Thursday the Trojans defeated Folsom, 8-1, to improve to 4-2 in league play. The Trojans had no trouble with the Huskies, winning eight matches in straight sets. The only match that was competitive came at No. 2 doubles where Prakhar Shrivastava and Taylor Ellerman won 7-5, 6-3. Oak Ridge won all six singles matches in convincing fashion, as no one lost more than three games over two sets. Nic Atkinson and Simon Chan won 6-1, 6-2 at the top of the ladder followed by wins by Charlie Conarro (6-0, 6-0), Matt Fergerson (6-1, 6-2), Matthew Lai (6-0, 6-0) and Scott Lee (6-2, 6-1). Max He and Mitchell Jensen also won at No. 3 doubles, 6-0, 6-0. Oak Ridge coach Pat Ryan used identical lineups against Ponderosa and Folsom with Chan, Conarro and Fergerson coming away with singles win at No. 4, 5 and 6, respectively, against both opponents. The three doubles teams of Lai and Lee, Austin Mitchell and Sangsoo Kim and He and Jensen also swept the competition. Atkinson also picked up a win in singles play against Ponderosa, while Jimmy Giovanni and Jacob Zetlin won singles matches against Folsom. Things get tougher next week for the Trojans, as they face the two teams that have previously beaten them. Oak Ridge plays host to Pleasant Grove on Monday and travels to Jesuit today.
