Oak Ridge High’s tennis team gets another shot at Jesuit today. The Trojans lost to the Marauders on March 21, 5-2, in a rain-shortened match. Oak Ridge hopes it’s more prepared this time around. “We didn’t play our best match last time and this is a decisive match for us to see if we can beat them,” Oak Ridge coach Pat Ryan said. “I feel we can win if we play our best. I feel every match can go either way so it could be very interesting.” Oak Ridge’s Brandon Sutter lost at No. 1 last match, losing 6-4, 6-4, while playing with a bad back. Tanner Schmutte is also back at full strength after a leg injury, which should make the Trojans tougher at the top of the ladder. Oak Ridge is coming off a strong week of tennis, opening up with 9-0 wins over Pleasant Grove and Ponderosa before beating Folsom, 7-2, without some of the team’s top players in the lineup. "We didn’t have all of our top players against Folsom, but it was a lot closer than the final score shows,” Ryan said. “They’ve got a good team.” Jimmy Giovannini, Alex Charn and Nic Atkinson each won all three of their singles matches last week, while Schmutte and Jacob Zetlin each won two matches. Andrew Hall, Jonathan Kim, Charlie Conaro and Tom Barton also picked up wins in singles play. Matthew Lai, Matt Fergerson and Scotty Lee all played on three winning doubles teams, while Conaro, Barton, Kim, Simon Kim, Sangsoo Kim, Kyle Sopp and Travis Daly each played on one winning doubles team.
