Oak Ridge High's tennis team saw its season come to an end on Monday following a 6-3 loss to Granite Bay. The Grizzlies face Rio Americano today for the Division II section championship. Oak Ridge managed to win three singles matches against Granite Bay, but that was it. Tanner Schmutte and Brandon Sutter won at the top of the ladder at No. 1 and 2 singles, respectively. Schmutte defeated Brad Wong, 6-2, 6-1, while Sutter got by Kyle Pawlak, 6-0, 6-0. Jimmy Giovannini, playing at No. 5 singles, picked up the only other win for Oak Ridge, as he defeated Blake Hunter, 6-3, 6-4. Andrew Hall dropped a three-set match at No. 4 singles, 2-6, 6-4, 6-0, as did the No. 2 doubles team of Jake Hasse and Joe Carson, 3-6, 6-3, 6-0. The other four losses came in straight sets, but Oak Ridge was competitive in all four. Austin Hall lost 6-4, 6-4 at No. 3 singles, while Alex Charn dropped a 7-6, 6-4 decision at No. 6 singles. In doubles play, Nic Atkinson and Jonathan Kim lost 7-5, 6-4 at No. 1, while Tom Barton and Simon Kim lost 6-3, 7-5 at No. 3 doubles.
