Oak Ridge tennis team defeats Sheldon, 8-1

An 8-1 win over Sheldon Tuesday gave Oak Ridge High’s tennis team a 4-0 record in the Delta River League.

The Trojans swept singles play with No. 1 and No. 2 singles players Simon Chan and Clarence Lai leading the way, while No. 3 singles Scotty Lee had the most competitive match of the day, winning 6-3, 4-6 (10-6). Chan and Lai won their matches by similar scores, Chan winning 6-1, 6-3 and Lai earning a 6-2, 6-3 win.

Haydon Jacobson picked up a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 4 singles, while Sam Miller and Sam Min both won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 5 and 6 singles, respectively.

Oak Ridge’s doubles team of Hunter Newcomer and Cole Malibiran earned a 1-6, 6-3, 6-2 win, while Cole Rickard and Jason Rouse won 6-4, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles.
