Oak Ridge opened the Division I tennis playoffs Tuesday with a 6-3 win over Lincoln of Stockton.

With the win the Lady Trojans advance to Monday’s quarterfinal round where they play host to Armijo.

Oak Ridge picked up three quick wins in singles play to start the match. At the top of the ladder, Tori Trylovich defeated Hannah Litton 6-0, 6-2 and Rachel Librach and Teja Chalamcherla followed with similar wins; Librach winning 6-0, 6-1 and Chalamcherla winning 6-0, 6-3, respectively, at No. 2 and 3 singles.

“Our league MVP and senior co-captain (Tori) got off us to a fast start and Rachel and Teja made quick work of their opponents,” Oak Ridge coach Ralph Clark said. “These three have been nails for the team all year long.”

Gabby Zeagler and Megan McMillen lost at No. 4 and 5 singles, but Lauren Roppolo righted the ship with a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 6 singles.

“Gabby lost a close third set tie breaker after the match was in the bag,” Clark said. “Freshman Megan McMillen got more playing time as she gains experience.  Senior co-captain Lauren Roppolo got an easy win at number-six singles before she moves back into the doubles line up next week.”

Oak Ridge took two of the three doubles matches, as Ashlee Gonzales and Jessica Williams won 6-3, 6-2 at No. 2 and Sydney Newman and Megan Engle won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3.

“Doubles is a daily experiment, although Ashlee, Jessica, Sydney and Megan turned in good performances,” Clark said. “We need to improve every day to continue our run in the playoffs.”
