Freshman Megan McMillen played at No. 5 singles and won a similar type of match, defeating Daphne Green 6-1, 4-6, 10-8. Junior Emily Abraham came out on top in a competitive match at No. 6 singles, 6-4, 7-5. Sophomores Teja Chalamcherla (6-0, 6-0) and Hannah Crookham (6-2, 6-1) won at No. 2 and 3 singles, respectively, while senior Gabby Zeagler won at No. 4 singles, 6-4, 6-1. Oak Ridge had a fairly easy time of it in doubles play. Heather Dunham and Ashlee Gonzales won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1 doubles. Sydney Newman and Megan Engle came away with a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 2, while Sami Newman and Tara Ghalabor won 6-4, 6-1 at No. 3. “This match finished the first half of the regular season and we’re in first place with a 5-0 record,” Oak Ridge coach Ralph Clark said. “A young Ponderosa team allowed rest for some of the normal starters and playing time for younger girls on the squad.” Oak Ridge travels to Pleasant Grove today for a match with the Eagles. Game time is 3:45 p.m.
