With several starters on the bench, Oak Ridge High’s varsity girls’ tennis team still overwhelmed Sheldon on Monday, winning 9-0. Rachel Librach and Teja Chalamcherla moved up from their normal fifth and sixth singles positions on the ladder to No. 1 and 2 and still came away with straight set victories, Librach winning 6-2, 6-0 and Chalamcherla walking away with a 6-3, 6-2 win. Everyone, in fact, moved up in the lineup. Hannah Crookham picked up a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles, followed by wins by Gabby Zeagler (6-2, 6-2), Miranda Miller (6-0, 6-0) and Haesoo Kim (6-1, 6-2) in singles play. Megan Eaves and Emily Beasy earned their first starts of the season at No. 1 doubles and earned a 6-4, 7-6 victory in the most competitive match of the day. Megan Engle and Madi Miller won 6-1, 6-4 at No. 2, followed by a 6-1, 6-2 win by Jessica Williams and Ashley Gonzales at No. 3, also in their first varsity start.
