Oak Ridge runs, jumps well at Clarke Massey Relays

Oak Ridge High had eight winners and 16 medal winning teams or athletes at the Clarke Massey Relays held Saturday at Cordova High. Hayley Scott and Samantha Ralstin led the way, as they both earned three gold medals on the day. Scott and Ralstin both competed on the winning varsity distance medley team along with Jackie Mansoor and Maxine Goyette, as the girls posted a winning time of 13 minutes, 9:06 seconds. The same four girls also competed on the winning 4x800-meter relay team with a time of 10:02.36. Aislynn Mueller and Sara Sipes joined Ralstin and Scott on the 4x400-meter relay team, which placed first in 4:13.48. The Oak Ridge varsity girls also had four other winning teams and individuals. The girls’ long jump trio of Timery Mueller, Jessica Emde and Holli Arrieta won with a distance of 46 feet, 3 ¼ inches, while the team of Aislynn Mueller, Kayla Harris Ashli Jaeger and Easton Schu won the 4x65-meter shuttle hurdle relay race. Jenna Yowell and Timery Mueller combined to vault 18 feet to win that event, while LeeAnn Hold won the 3,200 meters in 11:43.66. Also placing in the 3,200 were Brittney Putman (second, 11:44.72) and Robin Yancey (fourth, 11:49.12). The varsity girls’ sprint medley team of Yowell, Mueller, Mueller and Sipes also took third in 1:56.43. The boys had three winners on the day, including the varsity pole vault tandem of Alek Hoffman and Brian Hanson, who won their event with a height of 25’6”. The freshmen-sophomore 4x800-meter relay team of Jeroen Keukenkamp, James Dutta, Parker Prestegard and Nick Herhusky also won in 8:51.78, while the freshmen-sophomore distance medley team of Keukenkamp, Ryan Adams, Herhusky and Prestegard won in 11:40.44. The varsity boys distance medley team of Benji Xie, Jackson Burnette, Jack Crawford and Amjed Aboukhadijeh placed second in 10:59.92, as did the varsity boys’ 4x800-meter relay team of Aboukhadijeh, Xie, Sean McNamee and Crawford (8:18.18). Clay McNamee took third in the freshmen-sophomore 3,200-meter run in 10:30.62. The next meet for the Oak Ridge track and field team is the Sacramento State High School Classic Invitational on Saturday.
