Oak Ridge lacrosse teams have fine seasons

Oak Ridge High’s varsity lacrosse teams turned in solid seasons in the first year of the Sacramento Valley Lacrosse Conference. The varsity girls finished tied for first with St. Francis in conference play, as both ended with 7-1 records. Oak Ridge finished 17-4 overall, as coach Ed Holton was co-coach of the year with St. Francis’ Kristy Wilson. Other teams in the conference included Bella Vista, Granite Bay and Christian Brothers. Oak Ridge’s top three scorers, attacks Danielle Trapani, Kristina Reyes and Cassie Aroyan, all made the all-conference team, as did defender Carman Gaddini and goalie Julia Holton. Midfielder Shaylin Rasmussen earned honorable mention status. The Oak Ridge boys finished the season with an 8-6 record overall. Attacks Wesley Price and Grant Sanders were all-conference players, as were defenders Chris Heins and Chase Pearson. Midfielder Alex Oaks was an honorable mention selection. Bobby Otsuka earned the team sportsmanship award, awarded by coach Paul Vota. Other conference teams included Bella Vista, Foothill, Jesuit, Granite Bay and St. Mary’s.
