With two games to go, Oak Ridge High?s varsity boys? lacrosse team is looking to finish the season on a high note. The Trojans faced Granite Bay on Tuesday and finish the season at St. Mary?s on Friday. One win would assure the 8-6 Trojans a winning record this season. Oak Ridge split two games last week, losing to Jesuit, 9-6, on April 24 and easily defeating Lincoln on Friday, 19-3. After the tough loss to the Marauders, the Trojans rebounded with a solid win against Lincoln. ?It was a great game for the kids as for the first time since the beginning of the season we played our game play and it worked throughout the whole game,? assistant coach Scott Baker said. ?We had 12 different kids score goals so we spread it around.? Cayd Rich had a strong game with four goals and an assist, while Ethan Ackerman, Patrick Kunkle and Josh Wellman all scored twice. Ackerman added four assists, while Wellman had two and Rich had one. Garrett Amidon, Tyler Leone, Cody Place, Jordan Rubinstein, Jericho Hallare, Victor Bunce, Johnny Ploke and Nick Hoe also scored, while Leone, Place and Gray Baker added assists. ?Josh did a good job controlling the midfield and had 10 ground balls and won 11-of-14 faceoffs,? Baker said. ?Garrett had what I would consider a heroic goal. During a lull in the game, he dodged three players with the ball and as he was falling scored on a great shot. He really picked the team up with that goal.? Taylor McKay made seven saves in goal, while Kyle Bertotti finished with four saves. Ackerman had three of the team?s six goals in the loss to Jesuit, while Wellman, Chase Webb and Eric Leonard also scored. Place had two assists and Wellman and Luke Hannemann each had one. Nick Gordon led the team with five ground balls.
