Annie Lamy is an emotional, demanding and intense coach but so far this season it’s been a low-key year for her. With her team’s impressive 9-0 start, eight of those games easy victories, Lamy hasn’t had to yell at her team or get on them very much at all this season. Oak Ridge is coming off a championship in the Trojan Toss-Up Tournament and won all three games handily, including a 58-35 win over Kennedy to win the title. The team outscored Kennedy in every quarter, leading 18-7 after the first quarter and up 35-18 at the break. The second half was more of the same. Ali Bettencourt, who led the team with 22 points, was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player. Teammates Carisa Rivers, Jenn Hoffman and Nikki Dow also made the all-tournament team. Dow scored eight points against Kennedy, while Rivers added seven. In the semi-finals against Bella Vista, Oak Ridge cruised to a 59-18 win paced by Dow’s 21 points. Jenna Ford chipped in nine. Oak Ridge led 16-3 after the first quarter and was up 29-8 at the break on its way to the big win. The Lady Trojans had three players reach double figures in the 65-31 over Rocklin in the tournament opener. Bettencourt led the way with 19 points, while Hoffman scored 17 and Ford finished with 11. “Our team chemistry is really good as the focus is on the team and doing what makes the team better,” Lamy said. “The kids work hard and I never have to get on them. They do a good job of pushing each other. When they make mistakes, they don’t dwell on them and they don’t let the mistakes rattle them.”
