Peewees Jr. Trojans 16, Rocklin 0 The Oak Ridge Jr. Trojan Peewees quieted the prolific offensive attack of the Rocklin Jr. Thunder en route to a hard-fought 16-0 victory Saturday at Rocklin High School. With the victory, the Trojans clinched a SYFC league championship series playoff spot. The first-place Trojans (7-0) again rode a solid defensive effort to victory, capitalizing on four Thunder turnovers and holding the Rocklin offense to just 79 total yards on the day. Tanner Beasy scored the game’s first touchdown with a 40-yard run around right end in the second quarter. Beasy added the two-point after kick to stake the Trojans to an 8-0 lead. Julian Dardano punched in a touchdown from one-yard out early in the third quarter, capping a long drive after a Rocklin fumbled punt return. Beasy’s PAT increased the Trojan lead to 16-0. The Trojans stopped three Thunder (3-4) drives inside the 20-yard line. Noah Jenkins sealed the Trojan victory with an interception on the Thunder’s last threatening visit. Dardano rushed for 80 yards on 18 carries, and Beasy added 50 yards on two carries to pace the Trojan offense. Quarterbacks EJ Delwiche and Jack Slaughter added 40 passing yards, including a key 15-yard completion to Tyler Jeppesen during the Trojans final scoring drive. The Oak Ridge defense was led by its linebacking crew of Jenkins, Delwiche, Jack Topping and Jackson Redhair. Defensive backs Trevor Barbosa, Nate Kettering, Cole Ramsey, Beasy, Sawyer Merrill, Evan Miranda, Nicholas Norton, Matt Hauser and Colby Anderson added key run and pass stops throughout the day. The Peewee Trojans host 5-2 Del Oro at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
