Five Oak Ridge athletes picked up first-place finishes at the Sacramento Track and Field Classic held at Folsom High on Saturday. Amjed Aboukhadijeh, Brian Hanson, Matt Redden, Hayley Scott and Sarah Vaughn all won events in the varsity only competition held under overcast skies, little wind and mild temperatures. “This track and field invitational was highly competitive just like it has been in past years,” Oak Ridge coach Rob Fairley said. “Many of the areas top athletes competed at this meet and several Oak Ridge athletes achieved personal bests yesterday.” Aboukhadijeh won the 3,000 meters in 8 minutes, 56.88 seconds, while Scott placed first in the 3,000-meter run in 10:34.65. Redden and Vaughn both won their respective high jumps, as Redden cleared the bar at 6 feet, 4 inches, while Vaughn jumped 5’2”. Hanson finished first in the pole vault with a vault of 14 feet. Four Oak Ridge athletes had second-place finishes, including Samantha Ralstin who posted a 4:53.82 in the 1,500. Abby Walker ran the 800 in 2:21.44, while Shannon Trumball took second in the 300-meter hurdles in 48.76. Will Findlay finished second behind Redden in the high jump at 6’4”. Trumball also earned a third-place in the 100-meter hurdles in 17.39. Jessica Emde placed third in the high jump with a leap of 5’0”, while Jeroen Keukenkamp placed third in the 1,500 in 4:09.57. Oak Ridge’s 4x400-meter relay team of Ralstin, Walker, Holli Arrieta and Scott also placed third in 4:07.62. Along with her third-place finish in the high jump, Emde took fourth in the long jump in 15’11”. Arrieta (800, 2:23.36) and Brittney Putman (3,000, 10:44.81) also earned fourth-place finishes. Jackie Mansoor placed fifth in the 3,000 meters in 10:48.16, as did Michael Swan in the shot put (43’) and Inna Lane in the pole vault (7’6”). Ralstin (400, 1:00.23) and Jonathan Strong (triple jump, 40’6”) earned sixth-place finishes.
