Three 2010 Oak Ridge High graduates came together to win the 28th annual TRI for FUN Triathlon held at Rancho Seco Park on Aug. 6. Connor Benander, who attends Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Cody Kaiser who is a nationally-ranked cyclist and Amjed Aboukhadijeh, currently competing on UCLA’s track team proved to be a dominant force in this year’s competition, winning the event by a landslide. Benander led off the race with a half-mile swim, giving the team a 30-second gap on the rest of the field, finishing in 12 minutes. Kaiser continued to extend the lead during his biking portion, making Aboukhadijeh’s job very easy. Kaiser blazed the 16-mile course in approximately 43 minutes. Aboukhadijeh anchored the team with a three-mile time of 14 minutes, 42 seconds, solidifying the win and the fastest team time of the day of 1 hour, 9 minutes and 54 seconds.
