With Oak Ridge High School guard Sara James keeping pace with the entire Oakmont team on the scoreboard, the Lady Trojans rolled to another easy win in the semifinals of the Lady Trojan Toss-up on Monday night. James scored 24 points and grabbed 13 rebounds as Oak Ridge knocked off the Lady Vikings 59-24 to advance to Tuesday night’s title game against Christian Brothers. The Oak Ridge full-court pressure was too much for Oakmont’s young squad - the Vikings start four sophomores – as the game was played almost entirely on the Oak Ridge end of the floor during a 20-4 first quarter. “Oak Ridge did everything we knew they were capable of,” Oakmont coach Al Voigt said, “full-court pressure defense, anticipate passes, close gaps, run a great transition offense, create and knock down open shots.” Senior forward Kristina Williams scored nine of her 13 points in the opening stanza, and then the Lady Trojans turned to James to carry the scoring load in taking a 37-11 halftime advantage. After a 13-2 run to open the second half put the margin at 50-11 with 3:09 remaining in the third period, Oak Ridge coach Steve White cleared the bench for the final time. Oak Ridge faces Christian Brothers for the tourney title tonight at 8:30 p.m.
