Behind Ali Bettencourt’s 18 points, Oak Ridge High’s varsity girls’ basketball won its first round NorCal playoff game Wednesday, defeating Amador Valley, 57-48.

With the win, the Lady Trojans, 26-4, advance to Saturday’s second-round game at Wilcox (23-4) in Santa Clara. Wilcox is seeded second in the bracket, despite having lost its last two games.

Against Amador, the game was close throughout, as Oak Ridge led 26-24 at halftime and 38-34 after three quarters. Bettencourt led Oak Ridge with 18 points, 15 coming in the second half. Haley Anderson finished with 13, while Yumi Drossos and Jenn Hoffman both scored seven.

“We got off to a good start and let them back in with defensive breakdowns and offensive rebounds,” Oak Ridge coach Steve White said. “We got off to a good start in the third quarter and were able to keep the lead the rest of the game.”
