Down 10 points at halftime in the championship game of the Trojan Toss-Up, the Oak Ridge freshman boys’ basketball team outscored Bella Vista 23-9 in the second half to win the game and the championship, 37-33. Bryan Bare scored 14 points and pulled down 16 rebounds in the win and was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player. David Ambrose scored 13 points and joined Bradford Buenzli and Bare as All-Tournament Players. In the first game of the tournament, Blake Freeman’s 11 points led a balanced team effort as eight players scored in a 52-43 victory over El Dorado. Ambrose and Bare scored 10 points apiece, while Buenzli scored six followed by Chase Webb (5), Jack Rico (4), Evan Gross (4) and Brandon Williams (2). Oak Ridge won a close second game 38-37 over Elk Grove to advance to the title game. Bare scored 16 points to lead the way, while Gross added six. Ambrose and Buenzli both scored four points, while Rico and Williams added three and Jalan Davis chipped in two. The Trojans entered league play this week with a 10-3 record.
