Oak Ridge falls to Davis in tennis quarterfinals

Oak Ridge High?s tennis season came to an end Monday, as they lost to Davis 9-0 in the quarterfinals of the Sac-Joaquin Section Division I tournament. Davis, a perennial power in tennis, had its way with the Trojans, winning seven of the nine matches in straight sets. Jacob Zetlin and Charlie Conarro at No. 3 and 4 singles, respectively, made it to the third set thanks to wins in the second set. Zetlin came the closest to getting a win, losing the third set on a tiebreaker, 6-3, 1-6, 7-6 (7-2). Conarro lost 6-2, 2-6, 6-2. At the top of the ladder, Jimmy Giovannini and Nic Atkinson lost by similar scores, 6-0, 6-3 for Giovannini and 6-3, 6-0 for Atkinson. Simon Chan and Matt Fergerson put up good fights at the bottom of the ladder, Chan falling 6-2, 6-4 and Fergerson losing 6-3, 6-3. In doubles action, Matthew Lai and Scotty Lee lost 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1. Max He and Mitchell Jensen dropped a 6-2, 6-4 decision, while Austin Mitchell and Taylor Ellerman fell 6-2, 6-3.
