Oak Ridge baseball team wins tenth straight game

Oak Ridge High’s varsity baseball team won its 10th straight game Monday, defeating Ponderosa, 10-2.

The Trojans pounded Ponderosa pitching with 11 hits, as they scored runs in all but two innings.

Trailing 1-0, the Trojans scored twice in the second inning on RBI singles by John Rico and Mickey Meinhofer and added another run in the third when Ryan Sullivan singled in Ross Dwelley.

The Trojans scored two more runs in the fourth and sixth innings, and added three runs in the seventh to win big.

FP Santangelo had three hits (two doubles) to lead the team, while Ross Dwelley had two hits, including a home run. Eight different Trojans drove in runs, including three by Meinhofer.

Austin Root pitched six strong innings to get the win, while Brogan Cooper finished the game on the mound.

The Trojans play host to Ponderosa today at 4 p.m. before wrapping up the regular season back at Ponderosa on Wednesday.Staff
