New pastor looks to serve others in FolsomBy: Laura Newell, Of the Telegraph
Folsom is welcoming a new family man to town who only works to serve.
Clark Crebar, 51, moved to Folsom with his wife and five children, to take over the senior pastor position at Community Bible Church, 601 Natoma St., in Folsom.
“We were enjoying ministry at Grace Church in Eden Prairie, Minn., as the Adults Pastor, when we received a call asking if we would be willing to return to the Sacramento area, after being gone for seven years, and lead Community Bible Church,” Crebar said. “After several conversations, interviews and prayers we accepted the call in May and moved out to Folsom to begin in August.”
He said as senior pastor his role is to serve by leading both the leadership and people of Community Bible Church.
“It is certainly a huge and awesome responsibility and well beyond my ability to do it well,” he said. “That’s probably why I pray so much.”
Crebar said with his new position, he is excited to move forward and look to the future of the church.
“(My goals for this new position are) to have our church be a house of prayer, where all we do is dependent upon God’s work and for His glory,” Crebar said. “To have those more mature in their faith mentor and pour their lives into those less mature. To reach out in Christ’s love and share His good news to the world around us – across the street and around the world. We really believe that people need Jesus.”
After moving from Minnesota, Crebar said he is happy to have his family rooted in Folsom.
“We were able to purchase a home in July and get our children into the Folsom schools and activities just by the start of the school year,” he said. “It was an absolute miracle to find a house here. Everyone wants to live in Folsom. We don’t blame them.”
He said while it was difficult to leave his home in Minnesota, Folsom was the right move for him.
“After much discussion, tears and prayer, the Lord made it quite clear that this was the place where we were to be,” he said. “The opportunity to lead a people who loved God and desired to love Him more and to bless their community and the world around them made it a no brainer. It has also been amazing to see the unity of churches in Folsom. It is evident that we all see ourselves as one big unified family desiring to show Christ to all those around.”
Janet Fallon has been a member of the church for 50 years.
“We are happy to have him here – his first priority is prayer,” Fallon said. “He prays for the welfare of the church and wants to bring unity to our church.”
Fallon said the church caters to a variety of people and thinks Crebar will be a strong leader in keeping the community feel of the church.
“Our family is excited to be here,” Crebar said. “Thanks to many of you who have made us feel right at home. We and the church are here to serve you and help you grow close to God - parents, kids, teens, grandparents, singles, students and those who just don’t think they fit anywhere. God is really working at Community Bible Church and we would love to have you be part of what He is doing in and through us.”
