New Cameron Park pizza place puts quality on top
By: Penne Usher, Telegraph Correspondent
CAMERON PARK — It’s all about the quality for pizza maker and business owner Ashley Campbell. “The important thing is that we stay true to our recipes and we don’t cut corners,” she said. “We always use fresh ingredients.” Campbell and her husband Jared recently partnered with G.P. Randhawa to open Campelli’s pizza’s newest location on Cambridge Road in Cameron Park. The small pizza joint, just off Highway 50, strives to offer the best pizza pie in town. Fresh, high quality ingredients are the key to a perfect pie, Ashley Campbell said. “The mozzarella is the best, the marinara is full of herbs and wonderful ingredients,” she said. One of the unique additives to their pizza is the butter. Yep, they add butter to the edges of the pie, using homemade pizza dough. Partner Randhawa was eager and ready to learn the pizza business and making the perfect dough. He said he learned from Ashley’s husband how to make the most amazing crust. “It really is the best,” he said. “I got training for the dough from the best.” Randhawa has a background in the financial industry and spent several years working at Wells Fargo Bank in El Dorado Hills Town Center. “I love this more,” he said of running the Cameron Park pizza parlor. The Campbell’s own and operate three pizza parlors, the original in Roseville, one in Foresthill and the newest location in Cameron Park. “We were content with just the one restaurant in Roseville,” said Ashley whose mother owns Cool River Pizza in Roseville. “An opportunity came up to open the Foresthill store and we were thrilled.” The Cameron Park location is smaller than the two other locations in Roseville and Foresthill which both allow for in house parties, and serve beer and wine. The Cameron Park location is more for take-out. Ashley, who spent some time working at Disneyland as Sleeping Beauty, has taken the Disney family values to heart. She strives to create a family-friendly atmosphere at her Roseville and Foresthill locations that can both accommodate large family gathering and parties. “We do focus on the family and children,” she said. The Campbells also raise money for community events. Tuesdays at the parlors are fundraiser days. To learn more about how to raise money for your school or charity, visit campellispizza.com.
