Mortgage company aims for best service

When Dana Reed wraps up deals at Comstock Mortgage in the company’s El Dorado Hills office, he’s made as much of an investment in his clients as they’ve invested their faith, trust and finances with him. “I want to be the clients’ lender for life,” he said. “I know if I’ve done everything in my power to give them the best rate at the best cost and the best service, they’re never going to go anywhere else. As long as I stay in contact with them, they’ll use me forever. “That’s how I look at every transaction. At Comstock, in general, that’s pretty much how we operate,” said the El Dorado Hills office branch manager who’s held that position for six months and been with Comstock 11 years. The firm, which also has offices in Sacramento, Roseville and Pleasanton, works at establishing relationships with clients as hard as it does in building relationships with banks. Comstock, both a mortgage banker and mortgage broker, is a correspondent lender for many major banks. “Because of our relationships with them, it’s actually best to come directly to us for a loan, rather than go to them. “We’re basically a right arm for banks,” said Reed. “We service the real estate community and clients in the El Dorado Hills area well. We take good care of our clients. That’s why 80 percent or better of our business is repeat and referral.” Started more than 20 years ago in Sacramento, Comstock claims to offer a wider range of financial and real estate loan programs to residents throughout California. “That’s because of our relationship with banks and being a direct lender we have access to loan programs that many places don’t,” Reed said. “First-time homebuyer programs, grant programs, for example, where we can get people grant money to go towards their down payment and closing costs. “All kinds of loans, whether it’s Federal Housing Administration, conventional or some of the affordable programs President Obama put in place. Not everybody can do all those programs. We have the ability to do them. We put people into loan programs that fit their needs.” Reed said Comstock is an advocate for clients, going to bat for them in dealing with banks. “Always. That’s what we do,” he said. “We’re always looking out for the client’s best interest, or anybody else’s. That’s how you have to approach this.” Reed, 54, lives in El Dorado Hills with his wife, Michele, and two daughters.
