Brandon Mills had his hand in three Delta River League swim records and Oak Ridge won nine events on their way to second-place finishes for both the boys and girls at the league finals held Saturday. The boys finished behind Jesuit, 582-549, while the girls narrowly missed out on first place, trailing St. Francis, 548-541. ?What a great weekend,? Oak Ridge coach Patrick Foster said. ?All the kids swam great and I?m so proud of their efforts.? Mills had an exceptional day, setting new league marks in winning the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 1 minute, 56.65 seconds and the 100-yard breast stroke in 58.96. He also swam with the winning and record-setting 200-yard medley relay team with Dylan Kubick, Trevor Dong and Garrison Yeandle that posted a winning time of 1:38.40. Yeandle also had an outstanding day, swimming on two winning and record-setting relay teams, as well as winning a pair of individual events in the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle races. Yeandle teamed with Kubick, Josh Verner and Dong to set a league and school record in the 400 freestyle in 3:13.06. Yeandle also won the 50 free in 21.97 and 100 free in 48.08. Verner was first to the wall in the 100-yard butterfly, winning with a time of 52.49, which was also a league record. The girls only won two events, but placed in many events, as their depth allowed them to nearly upset St. Francis. Maddie Velez claimed the 500-yard freestyle in 5:11.44, while the 200-yard free relay team of Morgan Jones, Cypress Lampe, Mikayla Mefford and Kayla Rios took first in 1:43.28. Velez also took second in the 100-yard butterfly in 1:00.44, one of 10 second-place finishers for the team. Jones placed second in the 50 free (25.69) and third in the 100 free (56.45), while Lampe placed second in the 100 free (53.91) and in the 100 breast stroke (1:09.49). Oak Ridge also was the runner-up in the 200-yard medley and 400 free relay races. Annie Harriman earned a pair of third-place finishes in the 200-yard individual medley (2:19.98) and 100 back (1:03.41), while Rios placed third in the 200-yard free (2:00.62). For the boys, Dylan Kubick finished second twice in the 200-yard individual medley (1:56.78) and 100-yard backstroke (54.09), while Verner also placed second in the 100-yard breast stroke in 1:00.67.
