Sean McHone led Oak Ridge High?s track team at the Division I Sac-Joaquin Section championships, as he won the 1,600-meter run on Friday at Elk Grove High. McHone led from start to finish in the race, posting a time of 4 minutes, 24.23 seconds, winning by three seconds. ?Sean?s had a great season,? Oak Ridge coach Rob Fairley said. ?He?s improved his time over the course of the season by 10 seconds.? McHone and 14 other Oak Ridge athletes will compete in the Masters Track and Field Championships at Elk Grove High on Thursday and Friday. Holli Arrieta was Oak Ridge?s top female finisher, as she took third in the 800 meters in 2:15.98. Teammate Sabrina Andrus finished close behind in fifth place in 2:18.68. Maxine Goyette ran fourth in the 1,600 in 5:05.80, while Ellie Velez placed seventh in 5:10.76. Rachel Peterson took fifth in the 3,200 in 11:17.38, while Velez finished eighth in 11:19.92. For the boys, Evan Baxter took eighth in the 3,200 in 9:49.90, while Marcos Conde finished 10th in 9:51.71. Jake Zeltner also ran the 1,600 and placed ninth in 4:33.46. Jessica Emde finished tied for fifth in the high jump at 5 foot, 1 inch, while teammate Carina Williams tied for eighth at 4-11. Shannon Trumbull earned a pair of sixth-place finishes in the 100 and 300 hurdles, recording times of 15.13 and 45.87, respectively. Finally, Oak Ridge?s 4x100-meter relay team of Shay Mueller, Zach Youngberg, Bryce Williams and Jacob Sipes finished sixth in 43.58. The Oak Ridge girls placed tenth as a team, while the boys finished 13th. Monterey Trail and Jesuit won the girls and boys? titles, respectively.
